Infant Mortality in Moseley and Kings Heath

I had a meeting with representatives from South Birmingham PCT on 2nd August 2005 to discuss why the latest bench marking exercise on Moseley and Kings Heath showed it to have one of the highest infant mortality rates in Birmingham.

What I wanted to know is whether we should be commissioning a scheme in Moseley and Kings Heath to tackle the issue.

During the meeting we went through the statistics for the area - I am not allowed to give details of these for confidentiality reasons. However, the conclusion was that Moseley and Kings Heath Ward does not suffer from a consistently high infant mortality rate - the high rate in the benchmarking exercise was a 'blip'.

As a result of the meeting a document discussing the statistics has been released for public use on the infant mortality rate in Moseley and Kings Heath. It can be viewed here
